every so often public release takes a snapshot along their discography timeline, to pause and recognize the various artists that represent the past, present and future of where the label sits. the last such release was in 2016, and four years, twelve releases later it’s time for another marker. this ep pools together six exclusive tracks from their global family, some on the pr roster for the very first time. from the beautifully addictive melodies by tendts and metropolitan soul museum, brooding baselines and synths from richard sen and tim sweeney, to the ecstatic floor energy produced by fran-key and earth boys, the range presented here is impressive. equally enjoyable as an abbreviated album, or as singular tracks at your service.
third release on hellium comes from tom flynn’s solo live-jam project last train to brooklyn. the music is expressively cinematic, encouraging the listener to go down the rabbit hole.
first solo ep for mmmh! you might know him through his highly qualitative project loop exposure or from his past appearances on lumbago’s ninja tools series.. generally present alongside numerous artists or with his duo, now it’s time for him to leave the herd, to take his flight and live his own adventures. heroic sounds, complicated layers of driving rhythms, haunted stabs and acidic wizardies are composing what is definitely the darkest side of mmmh.

repress - a vision of panorama cooks up another multicourse balearic banquet. this time hes flexed his generous, soft-centred sonics on mellophonia. each cut a breezy, warm synth odyssey, highlights include the groove-heavy strutter heartbeat (thanks to its loose sloppy bassline and confident synth shots) and the piano-tickling finale mosaic xylos (thanks to its flighty broken drums and arpeggiated insistency). the only thing to be wary of here is the misleading title: there is more than one seaside tune here theyre all primed for the beach. and pretty much any other activity or location you have planned this summer.

repress - fallout ‘the morning after’, produced by lenny dee and tommy musto, was originally released in 1987 on the legendary fourth floor records. originally recorded as a 17 minute opus, the track was edited into different versions, the sunrise mix and the aftermath. the names fallout and the morning after were tommy and lenny’s personal references to a private after hours club called the rooftop on the 23rd floor of a building in new york where they played, named as a nod to the after effects of the late nights and early mornings of these parties. ‘the morning after’ crossed many genres of dance music, and was notoriously adopted by grooverider and fabio who championed it at rage, their legendary thursday night party in london. remastered for this re-issue, and also tastefully remix by nu disco producer of the moment, purple disco machine, a new lease of life awaits for this genuine classic which has truly stood the test of time.
